Measures the DNA concentration of sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB) in the analysed water or filter.
This group of microorganisms can enhance microbial influenced corrosion in several ways:
On the one hand SRB bacteria can strongly decrease the pH value. The pH value is one of the most important parameters influencing metal corrosion.
On the other hand SRB bacteria generate elementary Sulfur and Polysulfites respectively. These are highly agressive even on alloyed steel.
So this group of bacteria can contribute to material removal even under oxygen free conditions.
