Measuring the DNA concentration for two groups of microorganisms: Methanogenic archaea and total bacteria.
These biomarkers are suited to monitor the fermentation process.
Methanogenic archaea produce methane from small molecules that bacteria generate while digesting organic substrates. So both kind of microorganisms are required for methane production.
Monitoring the concentration of these biomarkers allows an early detection of process distortions.
The result of this analysis comes within one workday after receiving the sample.
The full interpretation of this data requires knowledge of the physicochemical parameters of the digester. This analysis should be applied after consultation with the operator of your digester.
